Great book. A philosophy staple that I'll pass down to my children like a secular replacement for the bible. Getting books from Amazon seems to be satisfying more than any other product - seems like there's no way of delivering a compromised product when it's been printed and packaged elsewhere.

NOT "Advanced" and overpriced

I was very eager to receive this book. I follow Ty Ford's reviews in Pro Audio Review and respect his opinions. However, the title of "Advanced Audio Production Techniques" is misleading. The book is anything but advanced. I was deeply disappointed.
The concepts presented in "Advanced Audio Production Techniques" are basic and should have been long mastered by anyone looking to improve his or her audio chops with "advanced" material. The book does make a good primer and covers a broad range of topics. And Ford does an excellent job explaining the basics of compression -- a tricky topic. As a primer, however, $32.95 is entirely too high. For the same price you could get a subscription to Recording magazine, Electronic Musician or EQ, all of which will cover the same territory in more detail over the course of a year.
A much better bet is Hank Linderman's "Hot Tips for the Home Recording Studio." It also is a book about the basics and presents itself that way. And, frankly, it far exceeds its stated "Home Studio" focus. The material covered is applicable even to professional recording situations. Linderman goes into sufficient detail about the equipment, processes and specific techniques of recording. "Hot Tips" is an invaluable resource that I return to frequently just to brush up.

That's a good question. The book was on the MIX Bookshelf Best Sellers List for an entire year after it first came out.

I received a lot of nice email from people who bought, used and enjoyed the book. They said it helped them improve their skills and the quality of their work.

The book has been used in schools around the world, based on the email I received and it enjoyed two printings.

I was recently contacted by a college professor who said Focal told him the book had been discontinued. I thanked him for the info, wrote Focal and, by our contract, the copyright has been returned to me. I'll be revamping the text (it was written in 1993 and a lot has changed). For the beginner and intermediate, this is a great help.

This book has most of the basic information you really need to get from "clueless" to "have a clue." It's written in simple English and will set you on the road to being able to make sense out of audio whether you're in a basement or getting started as a professional. It's also very helpful to people in radio who produce spots and promos.

The Heart of Blanchard's Thinking in 76 Explained Sayings!

,In the introduction, Ken Blanchard tells us that he always liked sayings when he was on football teams, such as When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going. With this book, he turned that love of sayings into a synopsis of his thinking about leadership.
You might think that all of these sayings are authored or coauthored by Ken Blanchard. Not so. Although he is the author or coauthor of 36 of them, other notable figures including Churchill and Lincoln make the list.
The book's format is to have the saying in large type on the left hand page, and a one page commentary on the right hand page. The commentaries are well done, and add a lot of insight into the saying.
You should think about this book as a summary of Blanchard on leadership. To give you a sense of how this works, you may remember that the key first step in The One Minute Manager was To Catch Someone Doing Something Right and give them a One Minute Praising. The quote for this is the first one in the book and goes on to explain how to do this: promptly, specifically, and with enthusiasm.
As you know, Ken Blanchard's books usually have fable or two in them. The book has no fable, so you just get the key principles.
So if you prefer key ideas, this is the book for you. If you want to have a good reminder of everything Ken Blanchard has written, this book is for you. If you want to quickly focus on good ways to be a better leader, this is a good book for you. If you want to have a good gift to give to someone you care about to make them a better leader, this is an excellent book for that purpose. Enjoy!

Helpful Leadership Quotes

A book of over 75 quotes, Ken Blanchard records some of his favorite quotes and then briefly expounds on the main point of the quote. Numerous authors, famous historical figures and leadership experts such as Abraham Lincoln, Don Shula and Norman Vincent Peale are quoted in this book. Very readable and full of great advice on leadership, The Heart of a Leader is concise yet practically helpful. The author is a respected author on leadership, and so this book is appreciated as a good summary of Blancahrd's convictions and insights on leadership. I personally appreciated reading two or three quotes every day for about two months. Some quotes were obvious; some were silly but most were helpful and required thought and reflection. The style made for an easy read; it didn't require a large time commitment to glean the content of the book.

This book is very good with clarity to the point. Short and simple pages to read right through to being a true leader in work, relationships, and working to be successsful in managing people. If a person is a manager already they can be a true leader by believing in their associates to support others to reach theirs goals too! Anytime an associate wants to grow and learn in the company they work for a manager must let them excel. This only benefits the person and the company as well. Work needs to have fun and humor bringing out the best in their people and customers. This book definately covers the heart of a leader with much integrity having genuine people skills.

Love this series

We meet back up with Lex, Charlie and the gang after Julian has left for Australia. Adriana is coping better now and her and Julian have grown close despite him been in another country. Deciding to see where their relationship is going, they decide not to rock the boat and to not tell anyone about 'them'. Now this book is so much more than just Adriana and Julian's romance, it really is Adriana's story. She is so bitter and resentful towards Elijah for leaving her and Andy, and she really struggles with her insecurities and lack of confidence. Bringing them into her relationship with Julian, who's still battling his own demons, is a mistake waiting to happen. Then throw in brother Lex unexpectedly finding out and the fireworks really do begin.
I've always loved this series. I love the emotion Kat always puts in to her books but Adriana's story will always have a special place in my heart. The feelings/emotions and situations are all something i could easily relate to. I love the realism, especially the first sex scene, it was absolutely brilliantly written, the emotions Adriana goes through are put across very well and although i wanted to slap her at times, i could understand why she was the way she was. Eric, as always, provides some very funny moments making this book a nice balance of funny/sweet/sad. Julian is delicious in this book, i hated him for the first two books, warmed up to him in Julian and fell hook, line and sinker for him in this one. Highly recommend this book, especially if you've read the other books in the Dark Angel series.

I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!

Adriana was living the perfect life until a cruel twist of fate took away the only man she’d ever loved. A widower and a single parent with a broken heart, Adriana was struggling to survive. Seeking help, fate rears its head again, leaving Adriana torn between loving a man her brother hates and living the life she and her son deserve.

Kat T Masen truly knows how to pack a story full of romance, heart ache, suspense, humour and HOT sex that leaves you needing a moment of your own! Adriana’s story is one hell of a roller coaster ride of emotions; keep those tissues handy. When I read Julian’s story I found a broken man desperately looking for forgiveness, friendship and love; in Adriana’s story I fell for him even more! I could feel each of the emotions Adriana and Julian were going through, at times I wanted to slap Adriana and help her see sense, however considering recent months her turmoil and confusion was understandable. I loved seeing the gang all back together again, I have missed my Eric and Rocky fixes. Although I wanted to kick Lex Edwards ass I still love him. Julian has certainly made his way onto my book boyfriends list without a doubt!

If you have read the The Dark Angel Series so far you seriously won’t want to miss out on Adriana’s story. If you love contemporary romances with humour, emotion and HOT sex you will absolutely love The Dark Angel Series by Kat T Masen!

I take it back... THIS is the best book so far!!!

I take back my review for Julian.... THIS is now my favourite book of the series....
I feel that perhaps I'll be saying that a lot with Kat Masen's books... but they just get BETTER and BETTER!!!

Adriana strikes a chord with me, I identify with so many of her thoughts as would many women. As her story unravels you go through so many emotions, I want to shake her by the shoulders, then I want to cry for her and then I want to laugh along with her. There are a number of twists and turns to this story that had me genuinely guessing what will happen next?? There's nothing worse than a story that is predictable and this is anything but!!

And our favourite inappropriately hilarious Eric has definitely stepped up his material... oh dear god.... The things that come out of his wickedly kinky fictional mouth!!! And on the subject of wickedly kinky.... hmmm well this book teases the naughtier side of us all... I can't help but think that Kat might be holding back slightly.... or maybe I'm just really wicked? Give us the smut!!!

I really hope there is another book in the future for this series, in fact anything that springs from the well of Kat's imagination is likely to have me licking my whiskers like the proverbial cat ;)

A big YES for the McKeowns Price Guide...

If and when you need a guide on old camera equipment, and get a fair idea of what you're after or want to sell has none, or signifivant value, this is definitely the book you going to want to own. Has an enormous amount of equipment and you won't miss much! 100% of all collectible or non-collectible camera equipment it doesn't cover, but there won't be any book that ever will. This is your best bet, guaranteed!

If you are just interested in old camera equipment, this book will keep you going for hours at the time, but what's more, you will grab it over and over again in years to come. A normal book you read once, when it's a good one possibly more than once... but you'll never stop turning the approximately 1250 (!) pages the McKeown's price guide to Antique and Classic cameras offers you. I bought mine in 2005, so ten years later I can safely make that statement...

One thing I have to say though, it might not be 100% accurate on specifications, as in the 2005/2006 version, McKeowns still ensisted that the Contax RTS 1, a camera released in 1976, has a CDS lightmeter, while the RTS was actually the first camera where the revolutionary fast Silicon photo diode was used to measure the light! Then I guess the specs are not the main concern when creating a book about equipment value. I can recommend this book, with no hesitation!

The "Camera Bible" for serious camera collectors/retailers!

I am a retired public school art teacher who also taught black & white film photography classes years ago. I collect vintage and antique film and cine cameras as a long time hobby. I have a decent collection of several hundred cameras and some collecting guidebooks. I considered several of my books to be OK but since I purchased my first copy of McKeown's Guide to Antique and Classic Cameras, I don't even look at the other books now that I have this amazing and very easy to read comprehensive camera collectors guidebook. I now consider all of my other camera books "comic books" in comparison to McKeown's! I could go on and write pages of beaming review complements but in a nutshell, there is no better book for anyone who is starting out or a serious camera collector and/or retailer who wants the only book you will ever need with the possible exception of future issue releases. My only small suggestion to the publisher because the book is so massive and not cheap; is a consideration of a periodic condensed "update supplemental booklet" when new cameras and prices are added vs a whole new book for those who already own a copy. Other than that I could not be happier!

The standard reference on old cameras.

This is the most recent update to the best work I know on old still cameras. It adds considerable data to the earlier versions.
As film photography passes from everyday life to a specialist hobby and film cameras move from being utilitarian tools to being collectors' items, this edition of this book may stand (as there's been no update for seven years) as the definitive work for collectors and historians. I'm not sure the prices are at all accurate, but, as a collector, I don't use this as a price guide but as a research tool.
