STUART CLAYTON has been playing the bass guitar for over twenty years and has been working professionally as both a musician and a writer since 2002. During the course of his career he has toured the world with artists such as Carl Palmer (Emerson Lake & Palmer), played on cruise ships, in theater shows and taught in several educational institutions. He currently works as Head of Bass at BIMM Bristol, as well as fulfilling the role of Bass Guitar Specialist for rock and pop exam board RockSchool. He has written several popular bass guitar tuition titles for Music Sales and Sanctuary Publishing, and also writes for Bass Guitar Magazine. He now runs his own publishing company, Bassline Publishing, which publishes a successful series of transcription and tuition books.

With a lengthy and painful recovery ahead of him, the last thing Sloane needs is his partner out scouring the city, especially when the lies—however well-intentioned—begin to spiral out of control. Sloane is all too familiar with the desire to retaliate, but some things are more important, like the man who’s pledged to stand beside him. As Dex starts down a dark path, it’s up to Sloane to show him what’s at stake, and finally put a name to what’s in his heart.

I wanted to like it

The first thirds book was excellent, dark and gripping. The third and fourth books aren't up to par. Especially "Rise and Fall". There was so much drama going on that I almost didn't finish the book. Like Austen said, "Everyone's sleeping with everyone." And that became the whole theme of the book while the main plot of capturing Hogan just became the side show. I really had high hopes for the series but it just became another cliche fangirl m/m fiction - with everyone having "issues" and they have to release it in emotional monologues, rambling about their feelings for each other. I mean come on. The same thing happened to the Cut and Run series.

I want the author to go beyond the idea of Therians and the Thirds. I wanted to her to dig deeper to the main plot and not be afraid of her characters. I wanted it to be a plot driven story rather than character driven.

I really like the premise and the promise of the series. I just wish the first book's brilliance could have been sustained.

Fantastic book, excellent continuation of the THIRDS series

Fantastic book, excellent continuation of the THIRDS series. I read this nonstop from cover to cover. Loved the storyline, characterizations, suspense and humor. I love Dex and Sloane. This book was different as Sloane was recovering from a serious injury, so the guys weren't partnered on the job. Dex and Sloane were still featured throughout the book, but in a different context. It was fascinating to see new or hidden aspects of their personalities and how they came through. Enjoyed seeing a little bit of the darker side of Dex, obsessed with finding and arresting Beck Hogan. Glad to see Sloane opening up and truly realizing what Dex means to him. Love that the characters are still growing and fresh.

With Sloane injured, we got to see more of the team particularly Ash as well as Sebastian. Loved learning more about the other members and seeing them all pull together as a team even with their leader injured. We see more of Ash in Rise & Fall and lots of Ash-Dex interactions. Happy to see Ash fleshed out more yet not losing his gruff and grouchy personality. After seeing more of Ash/Cael, Calvin/Hobbs and Sebastian, I'm looking forward to books concentrating on them.

Lots of action, suspense and character moments, this book ended all too soon. I've re-read the entire THIRDS series, it never gets old. Enjoyable characters, action, adventures and a lot of love underneath even if certain characters are too stubborn to admit it. Excellent book. I'm ready for the next one.

Story Review:

I must say I was so glad Rise & Fall picked up right where Rack & Ruin ended! Those were some traumatic times. It set our story up to see our heroes grow and change while getting the bad guy.

Unfortunately, Dex and Sloane are apart for quite a lot of the book. Dex having decided to protect his family no matter the cost leaves Sloane recuperating at home. Lies are made and relationships are worn thin. However from this comes determination and finding out what means the most to them.

We see more of the other couples’ relationships, which is nice. Ash and Cael as well as Calvin and Hobbs move to address their issues.

There is lots of action and adventure. Although Dex is a little tstl at times, he is still his crazy fun self and I liked the music references throughout the book. We see a sweeter, sappier side of Sloane and I really liked the time they do spend together.

The story set up over the last three books came to a close, but I look forward to whatever else awaits the Destructive Delta team in future books.

Narration Review:

I really like this narrator, he has different voices for the characters and he is easy to listen to. I like that they do effects for talking on the phone or over headsets, it lends more depth to the production.

About the Author

Scott J. Kolbaba, MD, is a doctor of internal medicine in Wheaton, Illinois. After being awarded a degree in economics from Cornell College and serving with the Marine Corps Reserves, he completed his medical degree at the University of Illinois and graduated with honors.

Kolbaba interned with Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

After a miraculous experience where he was given divine knowledge that a patient needed a lung scan, which ultimately saved his life, Kolbaba became intrigued by unexplained phenomenon many doctors see during their professional careers. He spent three years compiling this anthology of amazing occurrences.

Kolbaba lives with his wife, Joan, and enjoys spending time with his seven children and their families. He loves to travel, fly kites, and support charities, including an orphanage in Romania.

My friend Barbara Cummiskey is living proof that this book tells the truth--read her story inside!

I am from Wheaton, Illinois and I know Barbara Cummiskey personally. We went to high school together - class of 1968. I can attest that her story is factual. Her sister was my sister's closest friend, and we knew the family very well, and I can recall many details about Barb's illness from the beginning, when it was developing, until the miracle that happened when she heard, "My child, get up and walk!" Our whole family knows the account of how she got out of bed and began dancing in her room. She spoke at my parents' church in Geneva, Illinois many years ago and I attended her presentation; in addition, there was also a wonderful article about her experience in "Guideposts" magazine. I am very happy to have this e-book - I own it for Kindle, thanks to Barb's mention of it on Facebook. She is living proof that miracles can and DO happen. I have a first cousin who had a similar experience on an airplane that was about to crash - and at the last minute, it ascended and all were safe. Farther along, we'll understand it, all by and by!

I am a patient of Dr. Scott Kolbaba and I have been treated by some of the physicians who shared their stories in this book. This book is truely inspirational. It allows the reader to understand how miracles occur in everyday life. The stories are true and are shared in a way that leaves the reader craving the next story in the book. I found it hard to put down once I stated reading and I am hoping that here will be many books to follow. Dr. Kolbaba is one of the truest , humble and most talented physicians I have ever known. This book is a testament to all the extraordinary healers who help us become healthy in body,mind and spirit. It is a must read !

I am privileged to work with Dr. Kolbaba and many of the fine physicians whose stories are told in this book. As a Registered Nurse, I can attest that I have seen and felt many unexplainable things in my 34 year career. This book puts into words how these experiences affect us as a community of caregivers, and offers a glimpse into a part of our world that is not often shared. I would highly recommend this book to all!

if you need the myeducationkit access code, buy the text at a bookstore

This is the only lesson I learned from this textbook-purchasing experience: textbooks sold through Amazon or other third-party vendors often do NOT come with valid access codes for the online tools some professors (like mine) require.
I had a brand new, unused code come along with this book (as you can see by the Amazon description, "with myeducation kit") and ended up communicating with the book publisher's technical support crew for way too much time just to figure out that Amazon gave me an invalid code for the book. Apparently this happens frequently with third party vendors.

Among all computer-generated mathematical images, Julia sets of rational maps occupy one of the most prominent positions. Their beauty and complexity can be fascinating. They also hold a deep mathematical content.

Computational hardness of Julia sets is the main subject of this book. By definition, a computable set in the plane can be visualized on a computer screen with an arbitrarily high magnification. There are countless programs to draw Julia sets. Yet, as the authors have discovered, it is possible to constructively produce examples of quadratic polynomials, whose Julia sets are not computable. This result is striking�- it says that while a dynamical system can be described numerically with an arbitrary precision, the picture of the dynamics cannot be visualized.

I should have checked it out of the library instead of buying it

I bought this book because some programs for Julia sets on the internet
are under Mark Braverman's name.
I hate wasting money on books so I have been studying this one carefully.
These fellows mention Cremer points without ever talking about Schr�der's equation.
If there was one piece of new material or anything that could be remotely considered original here,
I have sure missed it. I gave Carlson's Complex Dynamics (Universitext / Universitext: Tracts in Mathematics) a bad review for being very hard to read, so this less worthy effort
should get less as a book on computability that offers no programs or algorithms for such
that I can detect. Even the references seem to be sterile.
So buy Carlson's book or the Universal Mandelbrot Set: Beginning of the Story
,but check this one out from the library and don't buy it. I keep wondering how
these guys persuaded this company to publish this book?

I'm adding this after doing some web research: I was really curious about this book.
It seems the authors wrote a paper first about "uncomputable Julia sets": that is
when trying to compute z^2+c for a constant c the program on a Turing machine never stops.
So I naturally look under Chaitin in the index: just like
Schr�der before, they have omitted him, even though they use
a 2^n "oracle" Turing machine. Essentially the argument seems to be that
for certain sets their is a never ending sequence that can't be found
as a limiting case. So that is why they got the book published.
Since most algorithms for computing Julia sets have Fatou plateaus
and it has been long known the Siegel disk plateau near the center of the Mandelbrot set
is a "pole", but that the pole Abs[f[z,n]-f[z,n-1]]->0. The values
of the plateau near the border set are what seems to be in question.
Still not worth the price of this book...
