His book ATTA (2011) is a fictionalized psychedelic biography of the lead 9/11 terrorist and If You Won't Read, Then Why Should I Write? was published in 2012 by Penny-Ante Editions. His most recent criticism, �Je suis devenu un magicien noir�, was published as a catalogue essay by White Cube of London. He lives in California.

BTW a superb book

I like books that are about books and its readers, and Jarett Kobek's novel is very much in that it's a love of literature filtered through the narration of sort-of young people in love within the magnificent landscape, that is Los Angeles. Or perhaps they're not in love, but individuals struggling to communicate or at the very least to articulate their unhappiness among the streets of Los Angeles.

There is a strong situationist aspect with respect to the understanding of a city by the way of the main character's dealings with his placement in Los Angeles and how the others fit in the landscape as well. It is a very nice readable cocktail of thought, action, and looking at the world through Victorian literature among other things.

The one figure that stands out in this narrative is the father of the main character, who is profound and hysterical at the same time. Also his advice is quite good, considering that he sees the world in a very specific light. The relationship between son and father is pretty solid, but of course there are many bumps on the road that disrupts the two. Jarett Kobek previous two books "If You Won't Read, Then Why Should I Write?" and "ATTA" were major reads for me this year, and "BTW" easily follows in that grouping. Ah good times

Great book. Good lit. Favorite new author. I

I read "ATTA" first. This led me to seek more. I found this book. It was just as good, but totally different: LA/New York and a great literary character in the form of a Turkish father. (The father's philosophy of life/foul language is essential reading.) The author's love of 19th Century English literature inspired me to read "Wuthering Heights" right after reading this book.

David Parks is a black man from an affluent family. After dropping out of college, he is drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965. He goes because he feels it is his duty to serve. His father tells him to make the best of it.

BT SUBJ: REVIEW If this is the book of G.I.'s in WW2, commenting on their episodes of European/Sino warfare, then this is a book to be read to children over the age of 15. For greater impact, (Vet's of WWII), give this to your children's children as a "going away gift" pre-post-humously It's a common user language and expletives are soundly felt as a human-beings reading the rites of a "'last man- of a lost unit", behind enemy lines", signal... I can't go on, but I desire to read the book, "G.I. Diary", once more, so I won't have to launch some kids into another war... Thanks for the opportunity to write my review this review.

Mnemonica is a book appart

I really like this book, without knowing really much about card magic. But the reason why I like it so much is that I am a fan of Juan Tamariz, and reading the book for me is like Juan is really with you explaining with his enthusiasm natural passion for his work all about the Mnemonica deck.
