So wonderful! I love this book. Being a beginner cook, you tend to need to know some basics, and this book has that and more. I love how this book interacts with the reader/ learner and almost helps teach you cooking basics with ease. Being on a tight budget and trying to cook, you can get seriously frustrated, with this book, you don't have to be. With 5 ingredients you can make anything. Uses 5 main, affordable ingredients to keep you in the budget and on track for food. Tasty but still not hard to cook or time consuming so that is a major plus when your thinking college student. I am not one, but wanted a book that if I run out of things I can still cook healthy, tasty, affordable meals. Very well written, easy to follow steps. Perfect gift for new college students or any 18 year old about to go out on their own. (Which as most find out, eating out is too expensive and eating in means you need to have some culinary skill. ) I wish I had this book in the beginning, maybe my dishes would have turned out. Can't wait to try these delicious recipes. Perfect book to learn to cook with. Very simple, delicious recipes to enjoy.

Not just for college kids

Though this book is aimed at college students that are just learning to cook this book is packed full of great cooking information and recipes that are great for just about anyone. The recipes are easy to make and low cost for those on a budget. Now that my kids have headed off to college I am finding it hard to cook for only two people and this book has actually been rather instrumental in helping me to not cook for an army and waste food as the recipes are geared towards smaller batches of food. You will find many tips on kitchen essentials, how to shop on a budget, what to look for when buying vegetables, and much more. Overall I found this to be an excellent book for anyone from beginner cooks to people who just live alone and want to stop eating out so much. I did receive my Ingredient College Cookbook for free from the publisher which did not have any influence over my opinion of the book.

Worth the money

What I liked best about this cookbook is the inclusion of recipes that most adults would take for granted. Recipes such as grilled cheese or scrambled eggs. The back of the book has a listing of which recipes are vegan, vegetarian, and/or gluten free. There are other recipes in the book that I am going to try out for myself because they look delicious.
What I didn't like about this book is that there are quite a few ingredients which are not things a student, or even an adult, typically has on hand. And for the cash strapped student this might be a problem. However there are enough good recipes and suggestions in this book to make it a good one to give to a student heading off to college.
While I did receive my copy of 5 Ingredient College Cookbook free from the publisher that did not have any influence over my review of the book.
