Night is one of the masterpieces of Holocaust literature. First published in 1960, it is the autobiographical account of an adolescent boy and his father in Auschwitz. Wiesel writes of their battle for survival, and of his battle with God for a way to understand the wanton cruelty he witnesses each day.
In the short novel Dawn (1961), a young man who has survived the Second World War and settled in Palestine is apprenticed to a Jewish terrorist gang. Command to execute a British officer who has been taken hostage, the former victim becomes an executioner.
In The Accident, (1962), Wiesel again turns to fiction to question the limits of the spirit and the self: Can Holocaust survivors forge a new life without the memories of the old? As the author writes in his introduction, "In Night it is the 'I' who speaks; in the other two [narratives], it is the 'I' who listens and questions."
Wiesel's trilogy offers meditations on mankind's attraction to violence and on temptation of self-destruction.

Elie Wiesel, the author of some twenty books, is Andrew W. Mellon Professor in Humanities at Boston University. He and his family live in New York City. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986

GRIPPING!

What an emotional ride. I've been a Wiesel fan for a great many years and this book most assuredly did not disappoint. He had me from the opening page and I found it difficult to put down. Young and old alike need to read this Trilogy. I am certain, from speaking to many 20-somethings, that they cannot relate and find it difficult to believe that such things could ever happen. Wiesel gives you three different stories, all of which are clearly different with no relationship to the previous story, but then again, they DO relate. You won't be disappointed.

Trilogy of 3 books - Night is an excellent Holocaust memoir

These book is actually a trilogy of 3 books by author Elie Wiesel. The first is his memoir, Night, and it was superb! A very honest and heartfelt memoir about the sufferings of this sensitive and insightful man and his family during the holocaust.
Dawn was a novel with some truth in it and was pretty good. Day was just too weird for me and way too wordy.

great trilogy

Great trilogy of books in one volume. Deals with the traumatic experiences of someone that lived through the Nazi extermination camps and how it effected his life. I remember reading parts of Night in a history class in high school and wanted to read the whole trilogy to try and better understand what happened in that time in history.
